THE FIRM
About the firm
Apar Law is a disputes and advisory practice based in New Delhi. We act for companies, founders, institutions and individuals across commercial disputes, intellectual property enforcement, technology regulation, data privacy, white collar crime, civil and matrimonial litigation, property matters and startup advisory.
We bring the rigour and institutional discipline of large-firm practice to a structure built for direct partner involvement, faster turnaround and client proximity. Every brief receives direct partner oversight from the first call through to closure.
We appear before the Supreme Court of India, Indian High Courts, district courts, tribunals, regulators and arbitral institutions. Our founding team is qualified across India and the United Kingdom, and we regularly collaborate with international law firms and clients on matters that move between jurisdictions.
We are built for clients who value directness over volume. Tight timelines, practical governance and advisory that lands as an operational decision.
EXPERTISE
What we cover
We operate across a defined set of practice areas where courtroom experience, regulatory knowledge and commercial sense converge. Each engagement is partner-led.
Commercial Disputes
Shareholder and partnership disputes, contractual claims, recovery proceedings, injunctions and enforcement actions. We handle the full arc of contested matters before the Supreme Court, High Courts, district courts, tribunals and arbitral institutions. Our approach starts with an honest assessment of risk, cost and leverage.
Intellectual Property
Trademark, copyright and patent prosecution, enforcement and litigation. Anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy strategy through coordinated civil proceedings, customs recordals and platform-level takedowns. Domain name disputes under INDRP and UDRP. IP due diligence for transactions and corporate restructuring.
Technology & Platform Regulation
Intermediary compliance under the IT Act and IT Rules. Content governance frameworks, platform liability advisory, safe harbour structuring, and responses to government and law enforcement orders. We work with technology companies and digital platforms to convert regulatory obligations into workable operational systems.
Data Privacy & Protection
Compliance structuring under the DPDP Act 2023. Privacy impact assessments, consent architecture, data governance frameworks and cross-border data transfer advisory. We help platforms, intermediaries and data-intensive businesses build compliant systems before regulatory mandates take full effect.
White Collar Crime & Criminal Matters
Defence and advisory in economic offences, cyber crime investigations, cheque dishonour proceedings under the Negotiable Instruments Act, bank account freezes by investigative agencies, and regulatory prosecutions. We represent individuals and companies facing criminal exposure, from the first notice through to trial, with an emphasis on early intervention and damage containment.
Civil, Matrimonial & Property
Civil suits, property and land disputes, title litigation, partition claims and injunction proceedings. Contested and negotiated matrimonial matters under the Hindu Marriage Act and allied statutes, covering divorce, maintenance, custody and domestic violence. We apply the same structured discipline to personal and property disputes that we bring to commercial work.
Startup & Business Advisory
Entity structuring, founder agreements, employment and ESOP frameworks, regulatory compliance and fundraise-readiness. Commercial contracts, NDAs, SLAs, licensing and distribution arrangements. We advise early-stage and growth companies on structures that survive due diligence, not just incorporation.
